If I Ever Feel Better

Phoenix are back and 1901 has provided us with fresh enthusiasm for one of Uprock's favourite bands.

Their albums are great but the 2000 single, If I Ever Feels Better, has a special place in our hearts for being one of the few records that we've had in our boxes at pretty much every Uprock since we started in 2004.

It's rare that a record is released whereby all three mixes stand up as leading examples of their genre.

The original version remains one of the highlights of early 21st Century guitar music (albeit disco tinted) prior to The Strokes' arrival, Todd Edwards' spiritual reworking is enough to challenge many's preconceptions of garage music, whilst the Buffalo Bunch's mix is a genuine floor filler which holds its own against the best of both Roule and Crydamoure's output.

Perhaps the best £4 ever spent.
